Finally The two Garys - Wee G and Big Gary - appeared on the scene.

(They joined my Ener G!)

And it was on...

February 2023

Ener G begins the demolition of the old lean-to at the back of the house.

It's asbestos so suits and masks are mandatory

It's hot. It's an extremely unpleasant job.

The loo with hidden window is revealed.

It becomes a loo with a view... 

And then Wee G arrived with his digger and the slab started to take shape .....

Ener G keeping a close eye on things .... as always!

Time for the concrete...

Big G is front and centre here.

Finally a slab. A beautiful sight.
It's taken a frustrating 12 months to get this slab.

Brian arrives and they start to get serious about the rebuild. 

More asbestos going going gone.

We lifted the roof, inserted the beams for the extension
 and replaced the aluminium so it sits atop the new roof.

It's time for the rear windows and doors ....

Looking pretty damn smart ....

Now for the kitchen ... Whack Gazzy and Bash Brian ....

Kitchen gone. Time to build internal walls ...

And lift ceilings into place ....

Jen doesn't feature in many of the photos....but she is floating around. 

Here I am painting my Mum's dressing table in the garage.

The garage was soon to be converted into our living space as we exited the house.
Myrtle is our bedroom.

Finally on site and painting....

The ugly southern side of the house was next on the agenda.

G and Brian are supervised by two-legged and four-legged friends

Ahhh. The roof cavity. Replacing some damaged beams
... and vacuuming 70 years of dust and dead critters.
Hands up .... Can you spot Ener G?

The peahens are super curious and constantly inspecting progress.
That little chick is now a flighty adolescent ...
and has decided she is a peahen after all.

Moving into the front of the house ie the sunroom. 
Internal walls and windows removed. 

New beam in the lounge room ...

Using the jackhammer to remove the tiles

It's a hard slog to prepare the floor for another layer of concrete.

Then sanding the concrete ...

... and final vacuum

Back to painting

The floor is a problem. In this far corner it had subsided 20cm. 
Piers are required to stabilise it.

Garry discovered some damage to the wall between the kitchen and second bedroom.
Out with the old, in with the new.

New kitchen going in ....
